Whatever Happened to JonBenet, the Investigation of the Child Murder, written by Rita Johnson is a novel that attempts to uncover the truth about what really happened to cause the untimely death of JonBenet and the investigation that followed. Because of the great interest in this matter, the author also recorded an audio edition of the book. Hearing some of his music, Ms. Johnson solicited Matthew’s help in composing and arranging the music for the audio book. Understanding the complexity and sensitively of this tragic event, Matthew produced music that is not only appropriate but empathetic as well. He worked with singer and songwriter Danay Mariney to compose two songs just for this project. “Playground in the Sky” and “Beautiful Angel” were written in dedication of JonBenet’s life and other children who lost their lives at the hands of brutal individuals.
