Grey Gate

Occasionally we'll post a diversion from JonBenet about other injustices that capture our attention, for one reason or another. This one originates from Buffalo NY old 'high society'.
Here goes--

There was a wonderful documentary made about Jackie O's relatives, one time NY socialites Edith "Big Edie" Ewing Bouvier Beale and her daughter Edith "Little Edie" Bouvier Beale. After watching Grey Gardens, it reminded several colleagues about the legacy of Queen Anne's Gate and the disenfranchised blood descendants of Julian Oishei, son of Buffalo's Trico Industries founder John R Oishei.

Such sad tales indeed, the Bouvier-Beales and the Oisheis. But for the contemporary setting, tender age of the unrecognized and under-privileged youngest Oishei heir, the stories are not too terribly dissimilar at all.

At least one could count on Jackie O for the empathy and integrity to do the right thing.

Post script: the documentary Grey Gardens was also a musical. What an incredibly perfect adaptation piece for Maryland's Spooky Action Theater, all considered.
