"After 17 years at the Aberdeen Police Department, Capt. Dave McNeil decided to go back to school - well, kind of.McNeil returned to Aberdeen earlier this month after spending nearly three months in Quantico, Va., at the FBI National Academy for Law Enforcement. He was one of 256 law enforcement authorities chosen to attend the training

"The value of the training didn't just happen in the classroom," McNeil said. "You also learned from the things others shared."For example, in his forensics class, he heard from the lead investigator in the Michael Jackson molestation case. An investigator in the JonBenet Ramsey's murder also shared details of that investigation.

While those are high-profile cases, McNeil said he was able to take pieces of them and relate them to cases in Aberdeen."We'd rather learn from others' experiences instead of having those things happen here," McNeil said. "Then, if they do, we're prepared."
