...Jerome Sidney Barrett, then 61, had recently been arrested for another cold case, the murder of 19-year-old Vanderbilt University student Sarah Des Prez – a crime which took place on February 2, 1975, only 23 days before Trimble disappeared. NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A jury found Jerome Barrett guilty of second degree murder for the death of 9-year-old Marcia Trimble. According to an attorney one man who lived for years under a cloud of suspicion deserves an apology...
Attorney John Hollins, Sr. read from a 1980 newspaper direct quotes from detectives on the Marcia Trimble murder case
"It's evident to me the case is solved," read Hollins. "There's no doubt in my mind the suspect is guilty."
Hollins was not reading about Jerome Barrett, but once suspect Jeffrey Womack. Hollins represented Womack for years.
