It may be challenging to fully understand resource impact to law enforcement and the hard costs of ruling out the hundreds of false confessions that came about after the murder of JonBenet Ramsey, although that irritating incident in 2006 is known to have a price tag of tens of thousands of dollars.
No matter which side of the fence a fake crime report resides, false allegation or confession, there is little recourse for departments or prosecutors and few penalties for perpetrators - -
