ainsworth appointed to CBI coldcase team

Since forming early in 2009, there haven't been any updates made to the public from the Boulder Police Department's special task force efforts toward the unsolved murder of JonBenet Ramsey. That is not to say that I don't think there is nothing happening with that task force. I am with the impression there is activity but any findings are not being made public - and that is a good thing, all considered.

Now the CBI is stepping it up with their own task force. Partly designed to aggregate and share information in effort to make progress on some of Colorado's unsolved murders, the CBI team includes a familiar name and expert on JonBenet's case - -

"One of Boulder County's top prosecutors and a lead investigator for the Sheriff's Office have been appointed to a new statewide team of investigators charged with reviewing homicides and missing-person cases that have stumped law-enforcement agencies for years.

Ryan Brackley, first assistant to the Boulder County district attorney, and Boulder County Sheriff's Detective Steve Ainsworth have been named to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation's new 26-member cold-case review team, which met for the first time last week...

The state's new cold-case review team is a spin-off of a task force that was formed in 2007 by the Colorado Legislature to take a broader look at supporting unsolved investigations by building a cold-case database and supporting communication among agencies...

Sid Wells, 22, a University of Colorado journalism student from Longmont, was found shot to death Aug. 1, 1983, in a Boulder apartment that his mother owned...

Margaret Hillman, 14, was reported missing in September 1983 after a party at Heil Ranch, north of Lefthand Canyon

David Eugene Cox, 55, was found bludgeoned to death Jan. 4, 1994, in his mobile home at Boulder Meadows in north Boulder.

JonBenet Ramsey, 6, was found dead Dec. 26, 1996, in the basement of her family's Boulder home on 15th Street.

Frank Santos, 37, was fatally shot at 10:18 p.m. July 9, 2004, as he drove toward Boulder on U.S. 36 west of McCaslin Boulevard. A bullet fired through the driver's-side window of his silver 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier hit him in the head."[...read more]
