Child pornography column feeds unjustified fear

"Wendy Murphy's column entitled “Sedatives key ingredient in child pornography” was riddled with the type of innuendo that leads to false accusations and unjustified fear.
Regarding the JonBenet Ramsey case, she intimated that the “dyed blond 6-year-old” may have been a victim of child porn, due to the presence of undigested pineapple in her stomach, since a bowl of pineapple on the table was “presumably tested for the presence of drugs.” In the case of Caylee Anthony, she said traces of chloroform were found in the trunk of her mother’s car, which could lead to many conclusions, not just child pornography. Finally, regarding Maddie McCann, she states, “Early news reports indicated Maddie had been sedated by her parents.”
“Early news reports!” According to recent news reports, the parents have been cleared of any wrongdoing.
Often, when bad things happen, we look for the “bogeyman.”
Buried at the end of the column is the statement, “I don’t know if these cases are related to child porn.” Perhaps this should have been the title of the piece."
