Tiger Wood's image team is having a tough time from keeping the rumor mill from turning over his curious encounter with a palm tree. Seems the pot had actually started simmering a few days earlier over at the National Enquirer. The NE editor Barry Levine, pictured here on the left, in a recent interview claims the sting will soon pass for Tiger and drops JonBenet Ramsey's name as an example of how quickly people loose interest in gossip in the digital age.
I would agree that technology has changed the way Mr. Levine does busine$$, but certainly don't agree technology has diminished the sting of gossip about JonBenet; the sources and audience just aren't his publications --

“Scandals hit with rapid force, like a hurricane,” said Levine in response to a question about the way celebrity gossip has changed in the digital age. “And the next day, they disappear.”
“People get bored with stories very quickly now. They’re instantly inundated with so much news,” said Levine in a telephone interview. “The JonBenet Ramsey and O.J. Simpson stories [in the pre-digital age] played out week to week with public interest lasting for months.”
